A Look Back At The Mountains
It was in 1813 that Blaxland, Wentworth, and Lawson crossed the Blue Mountain, 1816 when the first Blue Mountains Building was established by Governor Macquarie and 1874 when the first railway platform was built at Katoomba.
The Blue Mountains have come a long way since then with the Greater Blue Mountains being announced as Australia’s 14th World Heritage Area in the year 2000. Today it is a hub of activity, from explorers to shoppers to foodies enjoying the sights, sounds and activities of the destination.
